I've always loved Colleen Moore's dollhouse castle and decided I wanted to build my own. I've been playing with that for decades. I also love making any medieval settings, Halloween miniatures, haunted things, and Christmas scenes. Above is how my castle once looked--it's now getting remodeled. It's made from plywood and builder's foam for the structure.

  2. Yes, and I am going to do photos like crazy when I begin again. I learned much over the years and want to start fresh. Crazy? Yep. But it's starting to sound like fun to do. Thanks so much for your comment.

  3. One thing most people don't realize about the builder's foam is that it is machinable. That means you can carve fairly intricate "stone" details out of the builders foam for your castle using a Dremel motor or even one of the rotary fingernail care motors and fine grinding stone tips.

  4. Yes, you can do amazing work with power tools. I've made designs to use as stamps for my polymer clay work. The clay doesn't stick to the foam so it's great stuff for that and a relatively fast way to make a carved mold to use for stamping. But then, I've got many many uses for foam! :)
