Thrift Shop Find: Miniature Fountain

I love garage sales and thrift shops and today I found this gargoyle fountain to buy. I figure it might be neat in the castle, perhaps as part of a grotto. It might be fun to put a mister in it, one of those machines that make a fog-like mist.

Possible Topiary

At the dollar store I bought a package of flocked foam for flowers because I figured they might work somehow in mini. I'll try doing some as a topiary display for the castle garden.

Starting a miniature castle

The first thing I needed were some cabinets to use as the base of the castle and I needed quite a few because the castle will be 6' square. So I've been buying a variety of cabinets and dressers at garage sales, and finally, with the above purchase, have enough to begin the castle.

As you can see in the picture, there are two empty areas that will be part of the basement of the castle in these two new cabinets. I have other similar cabinets as well. I figured I could do some interesting lower rooms, such as a wine cellar and perhaps a grotto.

Another castle floor

This is another floor I bought at a garage sale. I have no idea what the original intent was. I'm not sure yet where I'll use it, but I'm thinking about it. I thought it was an interesting design. It's hard to take a picture of because of the super glossy finish.

Wood Parquetry Floor

I bought a hand-made marquetry tray at a garage sale. The owner said her grandfather had made this. Well, it just looked like the perfect floor for one of the rooms in my castle, so by cutting off the sides of the tray, I ended up with an 11 1/4 by 17 1/4" floor. I'm not sure what room it will be for the castle, but I couldn't resist it!
